Clara Faith was diagnosed with congenital hypothyroidism when she was 4 months old. She is one of the most joyful people you will ever meet. However, due to that condition, she has been delayed in her development and has numerous medical conditions.
She was not able to walk until she was almost 4 years old. Her speech is delayed. She was given a G-Tube because she was unable to safely drink un-thickened liquids. Her muscle tone is low, which impacts every muscle in her body. She also had 2 small holes in her heart that have healed. She has had surgery numerous times to repair a cleft in her throat to help her be able to drink liquids normally, to help the muscles around her eyes to help with vision and walking. At this time, we do not have a full diagnosis as to why her thyroid is not working properly. Her overall diagnosis is classified as inconclusive.
Clara Faith currently sees and has seen over 50 medical professionals. These include Gastro, Endocrinology, ENT, Neuro, Genetics, Aero-Digestive, Respiratory, and numerous therapists. In her short life, she has been to see her specialists at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) over 150 times. She has multiple therapies each week.
